Hey everyone. Just wanted to post that I received my copy of Lift Strong. I just started browsing the CD and I am really excited to get reading. I am going to make use of my schools library printer, this is educational after all.
Anyways, we are two days away from the 1-Year Anniversary show with JB and Dave Tate. For some reason I am really nervous about this show. Maybe it is because I am so intimidated by Dave Tate.
Also check out my new article at Elite FTS called, “20 Things Everyone who Lifts Should Know.” I know, not a great title. Thanks to everyone who has sent e-mails and posted on message boards about this. I am still a virgin in the industry, and I am just trying to get my foot in the door.
Lastly, I need to rant a bit. Is the fitness industry getting better? Are trainers becoming more educated and getting better results with their clients? Sometimes I just don’t know. I know students that are TWO WEEKS from graduating in my current major, and they do not know what a front squat is. Along with that they don’t know correct bench press form, what anterior pelvic tilt is, and so on. In my strength training and flexibility class I find myself having to answer all of the questions that our teacher presents us. It is aggravating. And god bless our teacher, Chris Miles, she is already taking on a double load of classes because another teacher had to take a leave of absence due to her child being born.
In most cases their parents are spending $20,000 a year for this education, and apparently, they don’t give a shit. That $20,000 is basically a membership to the go party and get drunk club.
I know this is not the case for all of the students enrolled in college, but that is how I feel sometimes. Why aren’t these students trying to learn more? I mean damn, you are already training students on campus and you don’t know the basics? Just pisses me off a little bit.
I even presented what The FitCast was to about 40 health science majors. I told them what it was, about the Insider. I even offered to give any student who wanted it a free Insider membership. Guess how many took me up on that offer? One. And after talking to her, she really wants to be a great trainer.
OK, rant over.
