9 Things I am Thankful for in 2009: Part 3 (The Future of The FitCast) (Now w/ Text)

(Quick Edit: The audio version will still be available each week on this site and on iTunes)

Bear with me…

I am running off about 4 hours of sleep and it is 11pm right now.
The last few days have been very busy for me with my full time job
coaching and training clients as well as the things I have been
doing outside of work for The FitCast. So…Here it is, what is to

Here is a video talking about what we are going to be doing in a
little more detail: http://bit.ly/8xDzCb

So in short here is what we are doing.

From now on all episodes will be LIVE and in streaming VIDEO
through USTREAM.TV. I also hope to offer a download of the video
via iTunes by this weekend so you can watch the show on your iPod,
iPhone, computer, ect.

This also means that we can now do something even more beneficial
for you. VIDEO MAIL BAG!!! Yep! Now you can e-mail us a video or
post it on YouTube and we will answer it live!

Think about it, you can send us a video of yourself squatting and
we can actually analyze it to help answer your questions. Got a
cool new exercise and want to share? We can do that too!

We are accepting video questions immediately, just send the video or
link to: thefitcast@gmail.com

Please let us know what else you would like from The FitCast in
2010! Thank you so much for your support these last 3+ years!

Can you also supply an mp3 of the audio for those of us who listen to the fitcast while in the office or on the treadmill?

  2. Yes, the audio will still be available each week on thefitcast.com and on iTunes as usual.

This is awsome Kevin – can’t wait to be able to watch you guys communicate and answer the mailbag.

Does this mean suits and ties?!? Business casual? I’m glad you guys are giving the audio too, for all of us who listen on the morning commute!

Cool idea, keep up the great work!

  5. AHA says:

You should just dedicate the full screen space to Leigh Peele if you want to maximize the bro appeal 🙂

Who wants to look at a bunch of dudes’ faces? :p

  6. drew says:

Kevin, sorry, what was the name of the book Mike Boyle gave you?

I listen to the audio version as well, i know you said that your going to be putting up an audio version as well but please don’t let this be you guys sitting around pausing video footage and discussing stuff that makes sense to those watching the live feed that make no sense to those just listening. I love the podcast and listen to it ahead of other stuff mainly because i can have it on while i do other stuff like driving to college etc. Really don’t have time for sitting down weekly to watch other people squatting. Can see it causing alot of dead air while the coaches and watcher/listeners watch whats going on.
While i think its awesome to see the Fitcast grow and develop i think theres surely room to keep the same format that everyone enjoys whilst discussing peoples squatting technique etc with video links in the notes for people to watch back later if they wish. That way the Fitcast remains fully accesible for everyone but the listeners have the oppurtunity to see the coaches talking points if they have the time.
Have to admit i wasn’t a massive fan of the old live shows simply because of all the dead air and setting up of the tech just to get a listener to ask a question that hadn’t been edited or organised.

Hopefully this has come across as constructive criticism as thats how its meant, i love the show just thought i’d put my point of view accross. Cheers Kevin!

  8. Drew- It is called Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk.

  9. Rhys-

I totally hear you on that and I promise we will do our best to make that not happen. For example, say we get a video of someone squating. All it will be is a 1 minute video where I play the video and read his e-mail. Then we will discuss what is wrong, why it should be avoided, and what they should be doing.

Thanks for the feedback, please let me know what you think after the first show!

  10. Rhys says:

Cheers Kevin, its great that your willing to ask our opinion on this stuff and actually enter into a discussion with the fans over the way forward for the show! I think alot of people would be alot more autocratic over something they created. Good luck with the first show either way.

Kevin, what a great intro to the new video style of the Fitcast, I can’t wait to see how it all works out. On the silly side of things, when you described how everyone will be in a corner of the screen I imagined you all doing the Brady Brunch thing, haha, I know, I’m a geek. But I think it’s going to be great to try out new things, and as for the blue man for the logo, no it doesn’t bother me one bit, but I appreciate the efforts to put a female in there going forward too, that is very cool. If I had any design talents, I would contribute something but sadly I’m better at stick figure drawing, and even then not so great…

I agree with the posts on keeping the format in such a way so that the audio/radio style of your current broadcast is not compromised because I am one of those people who take the Fitcast with me on my ipod when I am either working out, or just commuting.

Video could bring a lot of really fun and informative elements into the Fitcast, I think it will be great to see this evolve. I am voting for Tony Gentilcore to wear his Griffindor scarf when he is on the show next too…

  12. Ilona says:

Video – awesome! So lucky for Fitcast women worldwide – getting to see Kevin in action every week 😉 Can’t wait 🙂

  13. Carrie says:

I have one of the Fitcast t-shirts and the blue man on it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m excited for the video podcasts, I think it’s gonna be great! I’ll probably still listen to the audio, since I drive a lot, but at the least maybe I can see highlights of the videocasts…is that a word?

I’m really curious about the sweatshirts..will they be hoodies or regular sweatshirts?

Keep up the great work Fitcast crew, thanks for being SO AWESOME and thank you for everything I’ve learned in the 2 years I’ve been listening. I’ve always enjoyed fitness and working out, but I can’t even tell you how drastically I’ve changed (for the better) how I think about fitness, diet and exercise because of the knowledge I’ve gained through your podcasts and the guests you have on.

One more comment…I think it would be awesome to call the hotline the “Fit-line”…what do you think?

  14. Lori says:

Video is a great idea! However, from what I can see there is now way to download the videos. It would be awesome to be able to download the vids and put them on my ipod.

Did I miss something, or is downloading the video episodes not possible? If it’s not possible, is there a way for you to make it possible?

  15. Lori says:

Oh, and about the shirts — unlike other women who have commented previously, I don’t like the blue dude AT ALL. I’d *love* to buy shirts to support you guys, but I also want to feel good wearing it. I’d feel really lame with that blue dude on my chest. I know, there’s no accounting for personal taste! Anyway, what would be really great is a shirt with just the logo (sans dude) and the URL on it.

As a second note on shirts, I’d encourage you to get some fitted Girlie T’s as well as the standard men’s T’s. That would be awesome.

So far I’m not a fan of the new live video format. I find it incredibly dull to watch. Also, I thought the audio was still going to be downloadable through iTunes but the last episode on there is No. 163. I understand there were issues with the audio from last Sunday’s cast but is the Jim Wendler interview going to be available for audio download?

  17. krispy1138 says:

Thanks for getting 164 up on iTunes! 🙂
