Dr. John Berardi will be coming on The FitCast this weekend to celebrate the 6-month anniversary of the show. Have you checked out his new Metabolism Advantage Book? Have a question about that or G-Flux, your super shake, the Get Shredded Diet? This is the time to ask it! Get your diet straightened out now before the dreaded holiday season comes.

I look forward to your questions. Have a great weekend!

One of the big things you see in most commercial gyms is the applicaiton of, so-called, ‘cookie-cutter’ programming to training programmes. As inappropriate as such programming is for long-term, individual development there are certain, basic principles that are universal to both these programmes and more individualised approaches.

With nutrition, what sort of tradeoff do you see between the application of basic ideas/ applications and the need for the individualisation of an approach to achieve best results.

(Simple translation: When approaching nutrition what aspects require more individualisation than others to make it successful)

I have two main questions if both could be asked that would be great!
    Here they are,

First, Dr. Berardi, what would you have to say about fasting and its purported connection to health? When trying any strategy I will try anything as long as the benefits outweigh the risk, but no eating whatsoever? I understand fasting is very helpful for the body because it causes enzymes that the stomach usually uses for digestion to travel into the intestines and bloodstream where they gobble up all sorts of waste matter, such as: dead and damaged cells, unwelcome microbes, metabolic wastes, and pollutants. Also, all this fasting gives the body a much needed rest during which tissue functions are rejuvenated and balanced. Is fasting really all it is cracked up to be?

Two, Dr. B what is your take on this new field of nutrogenomics? Does it hold any merit whatsoever? I am considering possibly majoring in it, but am not sure as to whether or not it is on the level or even what type of classes I would have to take. What would you say to someone considering getting themselves tested?

I’d love to hear JB’s thoughts on the Velocity Diet. I’ve been on the PN program for a month or so but I’m going to do the Velocity diet for a month to get rid of some fat before going back to PN.
