Great discussion. I was talking out loud to the ipod. After listening to Leigh’s podcasts, I realize that weight is not a simple issue. I’ve never been heavy, but it didn’t stop me from having body image issues when I was young. I agree it is a health issue first and foremost. While Jon talked about his dad’s weight, he didn’t mention his reaction to it. My mother was anorectic, and I wasted a lot of time trying to change her. In many ways, eating issues do parallel addictions.
As far as kids teasing goes, kids will find anything, even things that aren’t negative, to tease and bully you with. I was teased for having red hair, hairy arms, and glasses.
Unfortunately, I tend to get behind on podcasts, so I download bunches after the fact. When I hear your “Justin TV” announcements, it makes me bummed that I can’t participate.
Your podcasts are the first ones I listen to in my lineup.

This is a comment/question for Leigh. I was interested in your comments on fat cells after lipo suction. I had read somewhere that adults don’t grow new fat cells as they gain weight, the ones they have just get bigger. I thought that is what contributes to insulin resistance, the altered shape of the cells. Is this wrong? Are people growing new cells in new places, or is the body changing which cells it enlarges?
    Thank you,
